Prof. Tianbao Ma and prof. Lars Pastewka awarded Peter Jost Tribology Award
date: 03.08.2026
In 2026, the Peter Jost Tribology Award was presented to two outstanding researchers in recognition of the exceptional quality of their contributions to tribology.
Professor Tianbao Ma
For his contributions toward deepening our understanding of interfacial friction at the electronic level and tribochemical reactions at the molecular/atomistic level, leading to breakthroughs in both theory and the realization of solid superlubricity, Prof. Tianbao Ma, State Key Laboratory of Tribology and Tribology Institute, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China is awarded the 2026 Peter Jost Award in Tribology.
Professor Lars Pastewka
For his contributions to simulations in tribology, including the Atomic Simulation Environment, which has proven invaluable to thousands of modelers at the interface of physics, chemistry, and materials science, worldwide, and his crucial contributions to understanding the role of roughness in tribology, Prof. Lars Pastewka, Freiburg University, Germany is awarded the 2026 Peter Jost Award in Tribology.
